On November 30th 2011, the Cancer Support Community (CSC) hosted an educational webinar for oncology allied healthcare professionals entitled Enhancing Patient-Provider Communication in Lung Cancer Care. CSC conducted a national survey, which underscored the needs of allied health professionals in serving lung cancer patients. In response, CSC designed an educational webinar that aimed to inform and empower health professionals to work more effectively with this cancer population. Specifically, the webinar highlighted the psychosocial issues experienced by lung cancer patients and their effects on treatment planning and quality of life; offered insight into addressing the negative consequences of lung cancer stigma; and provided guidance for potential intervention and effective patient/provider communication.
